Proactive Maintenance Program

Annual Inspections & Flow Testing

Fire hydrants are critical safety assets.  Manufacturers specify that every hydrant requires an annual inspection to ensure reliable operation. Our annual program provides a recurring, worry-free inspection, so hydrant owners never have to track or schedule it themselves.

During the annual inspection, each hydrant undergoes thorough external and internal checks, verifying mechanical condition, accessibility, and proper operation of valves, stems, caps, seals, and drain systems. Routine lubrication, minor adjustments, and component replacement are performed to prevent wear and maintain optimal performance. Annual flow testing and water main flushing are also conducted to confirm available fire flow, system reliability, and water quality, while detailed documentation supports NFPA 25 compliance and long-term planning.

Semi-Annual Inspections

In addition to the annual program, semi-annual inspections provide added assurance that hydrants remain operational and accessible throughout the year. These inspections focus on external components, including hydrant visibility, clearance, caps, chains, and signs of damage, leaks, or vandalism.

Semi-annual inspections also allow early detection of minor issues before they escalate, ensuring hydrants continue to meet performance standards between annual checks. By combining annual and semi-annual inspections, this proactive approach maximizes reliability, extends service life, and provides peace of mind to hydrant owners.
